Locality : besnedice (one of the most sought after and rare localities due to the spray pattern and shapes found there). Occurring over the moldau valley of the czech republic approximately 15 million years ago, a powerful meteor shower caused this region to be covered in small, green, glass-like objects called tektites. Considered the rarest mineral-like gems on earth, moldavite is like no other specimen found on our planet.

After impact when the rocks, sand and minerals on the ground were vaporized into liquid, this liquid was projected back into the atmosphere and fell back to earth in the czech republic. Some tiny amounts of this molten splashback fell in countries surrounding the czech republic but the amount is so insignificant that it barely gets mentioned.
