Papagoite in Quartz Messina Mine, South Africa with Copper and Hematite Inclusions Small (18mm) but Superb Crystal

A small (18mm) but superb crystal with a lot of richly coloured deep blue papagoite spread throughout the crystal. It also has inclusions of both copper (or cuprite) and black specular haematite. The bottom of the crystal is self healed. It is natural and unpolished. Whilst papagoite in quartz from messina seems not to be quite as desirable as the more famous ajoite it is actually significantly rarer and this is a very good example.

Whilst you will see lots of papagoite with the naked eye in any light; this specimen, like most from messina, is most rewarding with a loupe in bright sunshine. Under magnification the inclusions really come to life. It is from the messina mine, musina, limpopo, south africa.
